Business Advisory Council

Washington Vocational Services has developed two Business Advisory Committees (One for Skagit and Whatcom Counties and one for Snohomish and King Counties) in addition to participating on a currently existing Business Advisory Committee in Anchorage Alaska.

The Business Advisory Council helps the participating business discuss and identify hiring needs, assess employment skills of new employees, and brainstorm potential training opportunities and partnerships. Business Advisory members also assist clients with refining their interviewing skills, developing clear resumes, and preparing for the requirements of specific industries.

If you are interested in participating on our Business Advisory Council, please contact Elspeth Campbell , Business Advisory Recruiter, at 425-774-3338, or Peggy Frisk .

Donate Today!

Washington Vocational Services has adjusted our fundraising efforts for 2009.
Our desire is to be efficient with resources and sensitive to the economic conditions of our community.
Instead of spending thousands of dollars to put on a large fundraiser WVS will be investing in several small fundraising events within each of the communities we work.

Following are fundraising events you can sponsor or volunteer to help with:

Washington:

  • Skagit County: WVS will participate in a 4% Friday with the Mt. Vernon Food Co Op.
  • Snohomish County: We are developing a couple of possible fund raisers,  including an evening out with jazz.  A casual evening of food and music to raise funds for our community job classes.
  • Island County:  Activity to be determined
  • San Juan County: Activity to be determined

Alaska:
WVS will be participating in the Alaska Visitor Industry Charity Walk:
Per the Chamber website: “The Visitor Industry Charity Walk celebrates our commitment to giving through a fun, festive community event that raises money for Alaskan non-profit agencies. Since the first walk in 2000, nearly a million dollars has been distributed to Alaskan charities. More info at alaskacharitywalk.org.”
Last year WVS raised over $3000.00 at the Charity Walks, it truly is a great event!

WVS is a 501c3 organization and all donations are tax deductible. WVS is able to accept designated United Way donations, think of us the next time you are designating your United Way donations!

Your contributions are welcome to support our efforts at each of these fundraising events.
