Mission Statement: We believe diversity drives innovation and strive to build a team that represents the communities we serve.
DEI Accomplishments: At WVS, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment. Since 2021, we've recognized Juneteenth as a paid holiday, honoring the end of slavery in the U.S. Our DEI Committee, with representatives from all service counties, meets monthly to advance our DEI goals. Collaborating with Dr. Sharon Knight, a Race & Social Justice Specialist, we’ve assessed our efforts and are implementing improvements.
We regularly offer DEI-focused training, both internally and externally, to ensure all staff are equipped with the latest knowledge. We've also updated our hiring practices to attract a more diverse talent pool and ensure our job postings are inclusive. Our workforce is diverse in age, gender, race, and ability, reflecting the communities we serve.
To enhance accessibility, we provide important documents in multiple languages and utilize the Recite Me platform on our website for broader access. Our internal newsletter includes a dedicated DEI section with educational resources and volunteer opportunities.
Ongoing Efforts:
Continuing DEI education through various community trainings and internal workshops.
Incorporating feedback from Dr. Knight’s consultations.
Fostering an inclusive culture through regular feedback and open discussions.
